PRENATAL YOGA & PILATES SOUTH YARRA

One Hot Yoga & Pilates can assist women throughout their pregnancy – from pre-natal exercise to post natal recovery – preparing both the body and the mind for the work of labour and motherhood.

The mindful movement systems of Yoga & Pilates combine directed awareness with a no-impact form of exercise, which is idea for your rapidly changing body and life. Pilates can improve core and pelvic integrity for optimal delivery and recovery outcome. Yoga can improve balance and strength, both emotional and physical.

Please discuss the suitability of yoga and pilates for you with your health care provider. Exercise is not recommended for all pregnancies, and some common symptoms of pregnancy can make Yoga or Pilates unsuitable, such as Symphysis pubis dysfunction or high blood pressure.

Prenatal Reformer Pilates – a class specific to pre-natal exercise to post natal recovery | Coming to our South Yarra Studio in February 2024 | Sunday mornings at 11am with new mum, and clinical pilates instructor, Alice. 

If you already have a regular yoga and pilates practice our current offering gives you many options to select from based on your body and your pregnancy. We take pride in our pre and post natal program empowering women to practice a wide range of Pilates & Yoga classes throughout our schedule. Our 1:4 Small Group Studio Pilates, Reformer Essentials, Reformer Open & Yin Yoga Classes are all pregnancy friendly – with the only requirement being that you attend a 1:1 Pre-natal consultation at 12 weeks. 

 

Slow Hot Flow, Mat Pilates, Dynamic Reformer and Power Yoga are not suitable during pregnancy. We highly recommend starting with a private session so you can learn all the right modifications you need to know and transfer them into a group class setting.

There is not better time to start your pilates and yoga practice than now. Get your body prepared for the transformation of pregnancy and to support yourself to birth and beyond. Both modalities provides the body with strength and grace that will undoubtedly support you over the 9 months and into your motherhood. Prenatal classes are also a wonderful way to connect with other One Hot Mumma’s in our community and build your own network of likeminded women going through the same journey.

WHICH CLASS?

1:4 SMALL GROUP STUDIO PILATES

A 50 minute class at room temperature. With a maximum of 4 students per class – workouts are specifically tailored to ensure the best results for each individuals goals. 

PRENATAL REFORMER PILATES

This class is specific to pre-natal exercise to post natal recovery – preparing both the body and the mind for the work of labour and motherhood. We welcome all our One Hot Mammas to join us and move with confidence.

REFORMER PILATES

A 50 minute class at room temperature using spring resistance. Works to improve core and pelvic integrity for optimal delivery and recovery outcome. We recommend starting with our Essentials reformer classes.

YIN YOGA

Incorporates long holds in supported poses plus a focus on mindfulness of internal emotions, thoughts and sensations. Studio is 27ºC.

PRIVATE YOGA & PILATES

Privates are an intimate one on one session, where we can cater to your specific needs and body. They give you a more refined insight into understanding what your body can do during specific stages of your pregnancy. Our highly trained teachers can educate you on how to maintain a safe practice and give you all the tools and modifications you need to apply in your group classes. Privates can be non-heated or temperature set to 21ºC.

NEED TO KNOW

Congratulations! There is so much you can continue to do when you are pregnant, it’s about tailoring the program to suit the changes your body goes through and adapting your practice to suit.

At One we have a strict policy that no pregnant women are allowed to practice in our 37 degree Slow Hot Flow room. We strongly recommend staying away from practicing in the heat to ensure that you continue to have a safe pregnancy and take care of your baby.

Please get approval from your doctor before attending any of our classes, to ensure you are supporting the growth of your baby and can provide our teachers with any relevant information they may need to know before attending.

We are so excited that you are joining at the studio. Here are some tips so that you can feel at ease when coming to class.

-Get approval from your doctor before attending class
-Arrive 15 minutes before your class time so you can introduce yourself to your teacher
-Inform the teacher that you are pregnant, all personal information is kept private between yourself and the staff
-Bring your own towel, mat and anything else you need to support your practice
-Take your time in your first class, rest and stop as much as you need
