PRACTICING YOGA & PILATES WHILE PREGNANT

One Hot Yoga & Pilates can assist women throughout their pregnancy – from pre-natal exercise to post natal recovery – preparing both the body and the mind for the work of labour and motherhood. Please arrive 15 minutes early for your first class to discuss modifications for the class.

The mindful movement systems of Yoga & Pilates combine directed awareness with a no-impact form of exercise, which is idea for your rapidly changing body and life. Pilates can improve core and pelvic integrity for optimal delivery and recovery outcome. Yoga can improve balance and strength, both emotional and physical.

Please discuss the suitability of yoga and pilates for you with your health care provider. Exercise is not recommended for all pregnancies, and some common symptoms of pregnancy can make Yoga or Pilates unsuitable, such as Symphysis pubis dysfunction or high blood pressure.

 

  • WHICH CLASS?

    Our extensive schedule gives you many choices of time and style. Power Yoga, Yin Yoga and Basic Reformer Pilates classes are your best choices. Mat Pilates, Dynamic Reformer and Power Yoga Level 2 are not suitable during pregnancy.

    REFORMER PILATES

    A 50 minute class at room temperature using spring resistance. Works to improve core and pelvic integrity for optimal delivery and recovery outcome.

    POWER YOGA

    A 60 minute class at 27ºC with a creative, strength building flow.

    YIN YOGA

    Incorporates long holds of supported poses plus a focus on mindfulness of internal emotions, thoughts and sensations. Studio is 27ºC.
