Backbending Basics: Creating Space through Stability

This workshop builds an understanding of the basic elements of achieving space in the spine for depth in backbends while maintaining safety and postural strength. We will learn the fundamental principles of how to prepare for basic and intermediate backbends through an inquiry into pelvic and core stability, bandhas, muscular activation and co-contraction, spinal extension, drishti and breath. The workshop format will be broken down into 3 stages: Discussion, Practice, Questions where there is an opportunity get personal and timely feedback from the instructor.
